Structural engineering
Structural engineering/building regulation design & detailing projects range from single beams/lintels through to large-scale refurbishment and extension projects. Designs and details are produced with the economy and feasibility of construction in mind. This combination aims to produce simple cost-effective solutions to the engineering problems posed by our projects.
We have used our knowledge of the planning system, including permitted development, to provide our Clients with advice and guidance ranging from pre-application advice through to obtaining Consent for Lawful Development, Outline and Full Planning permission.
Structural surveys
Numerous structural surveys of properties suffer from varying degrees of movement and decay which has resulted in damage and cracking ranging from hairline to severe. We can provide recommendations as to the cause of the movement and the details to undertake any necessary repairs. All details produced are sympathetic to the structure concerned. We are currently undertaking ongoing monitoring in a number of locations using tell tails.
We are currently employed by a major building contractor to manage the "aftercare" arrangements for a number of developments within the region. These range from pharmaceutical units to student accommodation blocks and large leisure centres. Future opportunities under discussion involve site engineering (setting out), construction site management, quality assurance inspections and producing various items of documentation.
Our consulting with contractors is not limited to large companies. We undertake works for a number of smaller firms to provide assistance in the production of health, safety and quality documentation and systems for use in their varied work in the region, the UK and beyond.
Spring Gardens, Chudleigh
Project: Structural design of exposed green oak elements within a large extension to an old farmhouse. These included some large-span lintels and an internal balcony.
We also produced plans and elevations to help the Client obtain planning permission on a detached double garage and store.
